Top 10 Films I want to See 2014
I may not be as much as a Nolan fan as I was several years ago, but half of whats in his filmography are still some of my favorite films. The teaser trailer was neat and left me wanting more. Plus I’m a sucker for time travel and parallel dimension films. The cast certainly looks solid. Matthew McConaughey still riding on high notes after Dallas Buyers Club and True Detective.
Oh look time travel again, I do love it so! But also X-Men, which film series has had hits and misses. So this movie has decided to add everybody from all the movies, and then some, to create something…interesting, most likely. Let’s see if Bryan Singer can come back to the directors chair and make this character brimmed movie amazing. Also very happy to see Ian and Patrick back.
Not gonna lie but I’m the type of person that would kinda back away from something being called “psychosexual”. I’m not into erotica, sex comedies, etc, just not my thing. But then I saw that cerebral trailer and the early reviews that show this is going to be about much more than I realized. Also I welcome any film that stars Scarlett Johansson.
Epic Wachowskis sci-fi fest? Sign me up! The initial trailer staring Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum looks insane and promising. Could very well be a complicated mess, but I’m very optimistic for this original story.
I kind of wish they would just make a new subtitle to these part 1 & 2 movie splits. Like have one be called “District 13” and the other “Mockingjay” or something. Just personal opinion, I don’t like those “part” add ons. Oh yeah, big fan of the book, can’t wait to see how they show the departure of having no Hunger Games to go back too. More politics and war!
The Avengervese film saga continues! Caps finally going to get his own movie in the present day and I can’t wait. Chris Evens looks strapping in his new suit and look, Scarlett Johansson is on my list again! Now I know a good chunk of the Winter Solider’s backstory from the comics but real excited to see how it plays out on film.
Richard Linklater’s “Before” series is one of my favorite and understated trilogies. And I’ve actually known about Boyhoods production for about 2 years, considering it took 12 years to film. the film chronicles the life of divorced parents and their son, starting at the age 6 to 18, using all the same actors. I don’t know too many films have had the cast and crew who’ve had the commitment to follow through on this tremendous task, but it’s sure to me memorable.
I promise this movie would still be in this spot even if Tom Hiddleston wasn’t in it. I PROMISE! cantsaythesamethingaboutTilda But yah, it’s that vampire movie starring Tom Hiddleston and Tilda Swinton. Made by indie director, Jim Jarmusch. While I admire both leads immensely, I was never sure about them chemistry they would have. Would it work? watches trailer. YEP!
I think I’m going to Laika this film. Hahahahahahahahahhahhhahha. But really, so very looking forward to this. The studio is still in its infancy with only 2 films under it’s belt, but I love the hell out of them and stop-motion in general. The beautiful, meticulous craftsmanship and heart warming story has got me sold on Boxtrolls. I need it, now.
So maybe I just finished reading the Gillian Flynn novel last week. And maybe my mind is slightly skewed to its favor. Maybe David Fincher is one of my favorite directors ever. Yah can it fucking be October already? Please? There’s no trailer out yet, but I’ve so far seen no downfalls in the early production. Flynn is writing the screenplay, promising the plot will diverge from the book and I’m totally ok with this. It is, after all, a mystery book so it be nice not to know everything that would happen in the film.
